What Elite Coverage is for
Elite Coverage bundles the ancillary protections that mechanical coverage alone does not reach — the wheels, the tires and the keys — alongside a mechanical baseline. It is aimed at the owner whose priority is keeping a car presentable and keeping its resale value intact, rather than simply keeping it running.
That distinction matters more on a high-value car than on an ordinary one. Cosmetic damage that would be shrugged off on a commuter vehicle is a deduction at resale on a collectible, and the cost of putting it right is not proportional to the cost of the car — it is proportional to how specialised the parts and the labour are.
What makes this different on a high-value car
Large wheels and low-profile tires are exposed
Performance cars run short sidewalls on big-diameter wheels, which leaves very little between a pothole and an expensive rim. A single forged or multi-piece wheel on an exotic can run into four figures before the tire is replaced, and curb damage is the most common way it happens.
No aggregate limit is the term worth reading
Tire and wheel coverage here carries no aggregate dollar limit and no cap on the number of covered claims. On products that do impose one, a single bad winter can exhaust the benefit — so this is the clause to compare when weighing one plan against another.
Keys are no longer cheap
A modern key or fob has to be sourced and programmed to the car, often through a franchised dealer. Coverage runs up to $1,000 per incident, which reflects what replacement actually costs rather than what it used to.
Presentation is part of the value
On a car bought partly as an asset, condition at resale is the number that matters. Keeping wheels unmarked and the car complete protects the figure you will eventually be negotiating against.
What to check before you sign
The same questions we would ask on your behalf. A protection product is defined by its terms far more than by its brochure.
- Check the deductible per claim, and whether it differs between tire, wheel and mechanical claims
- Confirm where repairs can be carried out, and whether your preferred specialist shop qualifies
- Ask whether the plan is transferable to a future owner — on a collectible that is a genuine resale asset
- Read what is excluded, not just what is listed; exclusions define the product more than the brochure does
- Confirm the term and mileage limits, and how they interact with how little a collector car is actually driven
